Bizarro, it’s an exhibition circuit within Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Build on the principle of the cabinet of curiosities, it mixes contemporary art, art brut, ancient objects and antiques, with a certain taste for eclecticism and novelty.
Its discovery is done by walking through the streets of the 6e and 7e areas, in seven emblematic places of the Saint-Germain life. It eases a new look on the famous area, showing on the walls and in the windows of each space, snapshots of emotion, erudition and surprise.
For its fifth edition, Bizarro will show an heterogeneous tribe of stage animals and sacred monsters. Extravagant and funny creatures (famous penguins, public fishes, dressed-up insects ..) who fights with human for the stages of theater, circus and opera, and sacred monsters from the cultural and intellectual worlds (Brigitte Bardot, Catherine Deneuve, Edith Piaf, William Burroughs, Marcel Proust, Colette …). We’ll discover also iconic figures (Snow-White, Carmen, Jeanne d’Arc, Superwoman …) showing the mirror of a fragile and fabulous humanity in a world, definitely , strange.
Focusing on the unusual and the discovery, Bizarro shows unpublished artworks, produced specially by artists from different scopes. Their pieces create a dialogue with the collection of the Bizarro partners.
Throughout the six weeks of exhibition, the public will be invited to several performances and concerts, multiplying the occasions to share festive, playful and mighty strange moments.
