Mira Maodus (2015) Composition 22/41 - Acrylic on canvas - h 89 x 116 cm
Laurence Le Constant shares her deeply individual view on art that is woven by the references from her childhood experience and cosmic legends that revise fantasies and desires. The integral part of her art is a constant dreamlike feeling, that awakens our inner passion to live, to experience, to evoke. The pieces created by the artist stand on a crossroad between the imaginary and the real, therefore intrigued us with its constant ambiguity that questions the idea of our existence (arouses classical existential questions in French existentialism sentimentalism).
One contrary, Mira Maodus, a serbian artist, proposes us an abstractive journey into the unknown. Contrary to the nostalgic perspective of Rene works, Mira creates a new experience with the help of words, ideograms, Cyrillic characters, numbers reborn under dreamlike forms, life lines and bright colors. Nothing is obvious, but rather intuitive, everything is new yet familiar. Artist herself hides (encrypted) the senses behind the colorful mess that reveal the truth in the eyes who's looking.
Sylvie Mangaud - Katavi (2023), H 23 x 43 cm, Bronze ed. 8 + 4ap
Everyone will be able to find something for themselves, hence there are so many shades of summer. In the mosaic of seasons, summer stands out as a time of abundant beauty, serenity, and connection. It gives us a rich tableau of colors, scents, and sensations that stir our souls and awaken our senses that will be evoked by the show. In this way, art and summer intertwine, forming a symbiotic relationship that enriches our lives. Through the creative endeavors of artists, we are transported to sun-drenched landscapes, joyful gatherings, and tranquil retreats. Art becomes a conduit for capturing the essence of summer, preserving its fleeting moments, and allowing us to relish its beauty long after the season has passed. The summer show will provide the lightness of hope, as Albert Camus wrote: “In the depths of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer”. Therefore let's transcend to the warmest season.
Surprise artist
The show would also introduce you to the surprise artist Sylvie Mangaud, who will present her spellbound sculptures that immortalize the moment. The artist works not with the object but with the silhouettes, her main intention is not to play with the figural representation, but rather with the authentic essence of her creation. The artist's work stands for delicacy, elegance and the purity of the forms/shapes themselves in the most phenomenological paradigm (you see what you feel/connected with).

The arrival of summer brings with it a glorious transformation, as nature unfolds its vibrant composition and invites us to immerse ourselves in its captivating beauty. The warm embrace of the sun, the blossoming flowers, and the gentle whispers of the breeze all conspire to create a symphony of sensations that resonate deep within our souls. Galerie Géraldine Banier is happy to announce a new exhibition dedicated to the festivity of summer. The summer season provides a unique opportunity to celebrate the time of the year in its fully colorful glory, following the vision of three unique female artists from different cultural and aesthetic perspectives to escape from the ordinary.
The colors of summer are the colors of our dreams, hopes, memories. This interplay of colors in nature's kaleidoscope evokes the ideas put forth by Maurice Merleau-Ponty, a renowned phenomenologist and philosopher of the 20th century. Merleau-Ponty argued that colors are not mere visual stimuli, but rather they possess a profound significance in our perception and lived experiences. According to him, colors are not isolated entities but are intertwined with our embodied existence, shaping our understanding of the world. In the summer landscape, as we immerse ourselves in the diverse palette of colors, we engage in a phenomenological exploration, experiencing the profound connection between perception, nature, and our own embodied being.
The show consists of independent artists' perspectives that combined to start a conversation in a very different way, stylistically and ideologically. The cultural plurality is manifested through diversity that is celebrated by each of them. For many of us, summer will always be associated with the rebellious freedom of an emerging youth. It is also worth mentioning that summertime has its own unique aesthetic temperament that will find a response in your heart in different ways.
American artist René Romero Schuler guided us through the beauty of the human spirit in all its countless obscurity and distinctiveness. Her art is a desperate desire to provide voice to the subject of her creation. For Rene, art goes far beyond aesthetic, she creates because she “can't not”. Artist perspective is extremely subtle but nevertheless powerful, cause aimed to heal the soul. Memories have an impactful influence on our life, therefore, despite the fact they have taken place in the past, becoming a vital power to build a future. The element of “imaginative” (reference to Maurice Merleau-Ponty) creates visual keys that we can read and interact with.
