Juraj Toman (1985) est diplomé de l' Academie des Beaux-Arts de Bratislava (atelier de Klaudia Kosziba) et de l' Academie des Arts de Banská Bystrica, où il a fini son doctorat avec le professeur 2014 Ľudovít Hološka.
Le parcours artistique de Juraj Toman explore divers thèmes, utilisant la peinture à l'huile pour des captures spontanées qui transcendent la réalité. Ses œuvres vont au-delà de la simple représentation, incorporant des éléments littéraires et naviguant à travers les couches temporelles et picturales. Toman introduit des réalités parallèles, mêlant surréalisme, postmodernisme et littérature fantastique, créant un art mystifiant qui invite le spectateur à déchiffrer des indices subtils, brouillant les frontières entre réalité et irréalité. En se concentrant sur les paysages urbains, il met l'accent sur les espaces architecturaux et industriels, en utilisant la peinture gestuelle pour évoquer une atmosphère nostalgique.
La compréhension à plusieurs niveaux de Toman de l'espace se manifeste dans des peintures à plusieurs plans, évoquant la nostalgie et capturant un sentiment d'absence dans le présent. À travers un langage artistique moderne avec une imagerie « rétro », l'artiste dépeint les rues vides de la ville et les « lieux inexistants ». Dans son évolution, Toman réintègre la figure dans son champ spatial, l'atelier de l'artiste subit ainsi une mise à jour rétro-moderniste, repeignant des scènes extérieures pour y représenter des conversations nocturnes entre amis et collaborateurs.
