It’s Following the Emma Lavigne’s invitation, curator of the exhibition Warhol Underground and director of the Centre Pompidou Metz, that Joachim Biehler imagined the Mini Factory.
The interrogation about the role of the young artist in star-system, in the heart of both emblematic series of the artist (Like Project and Kiss the artist) is omnipresent in this contemporary reconstruction of the Factory, real ‘‘Star-creating machine’’.
It’s with devotion and flawless admiration for his idol that Joachim covers conscientiously the walls with silver paper and revives the performance Eat a burger of the performative video realized by Andy Warhol in 1981 (Joachim’s year of birth).
In the rewriting of these gestures became mythicals, Joachim inscribe a strong act of transmission by inviting the young public of Metz to take the features of the star with wig, make-up and striped jersey in support (participative work I’ ll be your mirror with the young public of the museum).
The Warholand series (silksreen printings and light piece), creates a clear link with the Warhol’s serie Disaster and makes here prophetic the famous sentence : « In the future, everybody will be world famous for 15 minutes ». As frequently in his work, Joachim Biehler questions in a more general way the contemporary art environment and his own implication within this system.
